E! - Mystery & Scandals
Leave it to E! Television. One of the most entertaining cable stations takes a trip to the dark side with their series Mystery & Scandals, hosted by A.J. Benza. And on June 15, 1998, they topped it with a special on The Black Dahlia. One of the most honest documentaries I've seen, Mystery & Scandals brought in Severed Author John Gilmore, Black Dahlia Documentary Producer Kyle J. Wood, L.A. Reporter Larry Harnisch and Will Fowler, the first on the gruesome scene of Beth Short's body. Rather than presenting the traditional sequence of events - the body, the belongings supposedly mailed to the police and the mystery behind Beth's death, Benza focused more on compelling information. Besides presenting the suspect Gilmore handed to the police years ago, Benza also focused on the "slime" competition of reporting in the 1940s, and notably, the competition on the coverage of The Black Dahlia murder. In less than 30-minutes, Mystery & Scandals aired a thorough recount of the murder, a possible suspect, and the mystery behind it all - a case, that will likely, never be solved. Currently no information is available on a re-airing of this show. You can voice your request to have the show aired again by visiting E! Online at http://www.eonline.com.
