I am wondering what the general consensus is concerning 1947Project? If I'm remember correctly, they had a "Lost Weekend" event last year which was all about Elizabeth. Did anyone go? _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

| I know it's a project Larry works on. I don't frequent it, however. |

I am not entirely certain what it is. Is it the tour thingy that Larry does? _________________ We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we seek. ~Barack Obama |

(This was the wrong board for this post, wasn't it. )
Yes, they offer tours to different spots around LA where murders occurred and so on.

For the 60th anniversary, they had something called "The Lost Weekend". They had art exhibitions, ran movies about her, had a cocktail party, etc etc. I find it very disturbing. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

No, of course not. The only reason I haven't really read more about it is because I have the attention span of a doorknob. I'm not really sure about all of the contributors (the Blood and Dumplings thing sounds a bit strange to me) but I know that Larry was very cautious about our motives and had to be assured that we weren't morbid thrill seekers. _________________ We are the ones we've been waiting for. Well, if he did think The Lost Weekend was morbid, then he must be gullible. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

Neon, isn't that exactly what you are arguing for?
Maybe it's the bus tour and commercialization you have problems with (I do) but otherwise it's the right message. _________________ I've been following Beth for years, and lived and worked near her haunts and never knew it! |

Larry seems pretty protective. He has contacted me about items on ebay that were exploiting her murder and I have joined him in protesting to ebay management. _________________ We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we seek. ~Barack Obama |

"Dahlia-themes excitement" is what set me off. Sounds like it was just one big party. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

*Dahlia-themed, I meant
If they were going to have a "celebration", why not have one for her birthday? Why "celebrate" the anniversary of her death? _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

| At least they didn't call it a "Dahlia-themed Bacchanalian revelry, with pin the knife on the body games and delicious cakes in the likeness of the Dahlia". |

I recognize a name or two there.
I have never seen (nor wanted to see) the Ramzi Abed movie. Has anyone else? Comments? _________________ We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we seek. ~Barack Obama |

I understand and that's wonderful. On the other hand, this same person (Harnisch) plans on making a profit off a book concerning Elizabeth's murder. Selling exploitative material on Ebay or writing a book about her murder and selling it...all leads to the same thing: making money.
The same with this 1947Project "Lost Weekend" bruhaha.
It's just my opinion that profiting off of someone's death, by means of a book, event, or whatever, is wrong. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

Nope, but I've seen the Livejournal blog of his wife and the Myspace site for the movie.
The wife and I didn't hit it off well, to say the least. On her blog, she posted a photo of a pumpkin she had carved to look like Elizabeth, complete with slit mouth and light-up eyes. I didn't hesitate to tell her how inappropriate I thought it was. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

I am learning that words speak louder than bureaucrats. How did YOU learn about this case??? I learned about it from a special I watched. The actors, writers, and network made money on it, but it triggered my interest. There are people who have self-serving motives for their books, movies, websites, etc. But no one does any of this with no motive at all. The question is whether your motive is to help or to exploit...
I just watched Kung Fu Panda which is why I sound all philosophical _________________ We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change we seek. ~Barack Obama |

Uh oh, I'm a hypocrite!
I read true crime novels all the time. It's never occurred to me that the money I was paying would go to author. I never thought much about where the money went period.
I didn't think of it this way until I got interested in Elizabeth's case. _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |

hehehe I've heard that's a good movie! Is it?
Hmm..let me think back. I've been hearing about this case for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was fictional or if it really happened. I think I came across something about it on CrimeLibrary.com? _________________ "With your child's eyes, you are more than you seem." |
