eBay Seller “Dolls and Dead Things” Cashes in on Beth’s Murder

LA Times Reporter Larry Harnisch brought to light a latest offering on eBay - converted Barbie Dolls, now supposedly resembling grisly murder victims. In his LA Times post, Cashing In on Murder Victims he questions whether or not the doll violates eBay’s policy, which states you are not allowed to profit from a crime. The doll probably does violate the policy—but it is questionable since it may fall under additional legal policies in regard to singularly produced items.

Juliana Redding Murder Compared to Beth’s

Associated Content reports CNN’s coverage of the March 2008 murder of Juliana Redding, who was found in her Santa Monica apartment. The case, in some sense, is being compared to that of Beth’s murder.While Redding’s murder certainly didn’t gain the same level of attention as The Black Dahlia case, reports credit similarities to mysterious circumstances and police’s withholding of information in order to be able to pinpoint a subject as suspect as a result of discussing “not realeased” details.

According to an article featuring an 1812 Productions play, mention was made about a broadway-rendition based on Hodel’s book.

Thanks to folks at the Message Boards, we’ve found the definitive reference. The play, DAHLIA originally took place last October at a college. It was co-created by Joshua Spafford, nephew of Steve Hodel.

FEB 13, 2009 article about haunted restaurants to dine for Valentine’s Day mentions Monroe and Short.“Today it is said that workers at the Sycamore Inn sometimes will hear strange noises or experience odd sensations, especially in the kitchen and dining room. “Interesting footnote: Marilyn Monroe, the actress, is said to have dined at the Sycamore Inn the week before she died in 1962. Another actress, Elizabeth Short, the “Black Dahlia,” also dined there shortly before her death in 1947, according to local lore.”
